Al-Bukhariyy and others narrated from the route of Ibn ^Abbas (may Allah raise his rank) that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu ^alayhi wasallam) said:

عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم :نِعْمتَانِ مَغْبُونٌ فِيهِمَا كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ: الصِّحَّةُ وَالْفَرَاغ

رواه البخاري وغيره

Which means: There are two great endowments which many people are not benefiting from wisely: they are the good health and the free time.

In this hadith the Prophet urged us to use our bodies when we are in a good health and our free time in the right and beneficial way. He also showed us the great loss of the one who doesn’t know how to use these two great endowments in obedience to Allah.

Such a person will regret after he loses these endowments. On Judgement Day, this person will regret having wasted his time at a time when regret is of no use.
On the other hand, the one who has a good health and occupies his free time in obeying Allah will be a happy person in the Hereafter.

What is the purpose of creating the humans and the jinn?

Listen

Allah created the humans and jinn to order them to worship Him. Suratul-Dhariyat, Ayah 56 means, “Allah has created jinn and mankind, only to order them to worship Him.” The Prophet, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, said, “The greatest right due to Allah from his slaves is for them to worship Him without associating partners to Him.” (Related by al-Bukhariyy and Muslim)

Prayer in Islam Print E-mail

During times of deep trial, despair, and sadness, Muslims seek comfort and guidance in the words of Allah, the Qur'an. Allah reminds us that people will be trialed and tested in life, and Allah also calls upon all to bear these trials with patience, perseverance and prayer.

Linguistically as-salat (prayer) is to make supplication to Allah. However, according to the convention of the scholars it is a set of verbal praises and specific actions started with at-takbir by saying Allahu Akbar which means (God is of greater status than anything else.) and ended by as-salam by saying Assalamu ^alaykum which means (peace be upon you) with certain conditions.
